Checking In

This will be my check-in post to log down my experience and journey to get my Class 3A license. At the start, I wanted to be a private candidate since it was recommended by many as the cheaper way to get the license. However, when I was at Bukit Batok Driving Centre (BBDC) to enrol for my Final Theory Test (FTT) and register for my PDL, I was convinced that going through the school system will be better. The reason why I jumped to FTT was that I had taken my Basic Theory Test (BTT) when I was in my polytechnic days. The person assigned to you at the counter will provide you with lots of statistic of passing rate, and will attempt (in a friendly way) to suay your decision to go with the school training system. So if you're dead set on doing it private, just harden your heart and ignore what he/she has to say. The reasons why I decided going with the school: Seemingly more structured for the practical lessons Higher passing rate Priority to the circuits for training Earlie...

Booking Practical Lessons

One of the cons of a being a school candidate is that I am subjected to long waiting time to book for my lesson. Typically, the earliest time slot available is 2 months more the day you are booking. However, there's a way around it. Usually learners will give up their time slot, due to commitment issues or have passed their traffic police test. Therefore, it has became my daily habit to check the online booking system for such time slot. I usually aim for those slots that are non-peak, as they are cheaper. Non-peak charges $68.48 Peak charges $77.04 Also, remember to get you PDL before attending your first lesson. Else... Say goodbye to your $68.48 or $77.04.

Practical Lesson - One

Had my first practical lesson on 6 Sep 2017. On the way over, I was filled with nervousness. At the back of my mind, I was half expecting myself to damage the car. As I didn't want to be late for my first practical lesson, I arrived 40 minutes earlier. The time slot that I've attended was at 9:10pm, the very last time slot. When I was there, I tried scanning my NRIC at the machine to retrieve my training car details, but nothing happened. It was then I realise the note on the machine saying that I can only scan 30 minutes before my lesson start. While waiting for time to pass, the nervousness inside my grew stronger. It was comparable to how I felt when I was on the way to Tekong for my NS enlistment. About 10 minutes before my lesson start, I made my way to this waiting area outside. By then, many has already gathered there. Not knowing what to do, I just stood like like everyone else. It was then, at 9:10pm, the school bell rang and everyone started approaching the ...
